IT, pro services councils reach out to President-elect Donald Trump

Congress should enact an omnibus appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2017 and pass the National Defense Authorisation Act and other key bills like the Modernising Government Technology Act of 2016.

Statement by Dean Garfield, President and CEO Information Technology Industry Council on the election of President-elect Donald Trump

The enduring and exceptional principle of our democracy is the power of the people to speak their truth and directly shape the direction of the nation. The tech sector is committed to working with President-elect Trump to help translate that truth into action that improves our lives and helps address some of society’s most pressing problems. We stand ready to work with President-elect Trump and the new Congress to find the constructive, bipartisan approach to problem solving that people want to see from their leaders.

We firmly believe that the unprecedented explosion of innovation being driven by technology and deployed all across our economy will help us achieve our greatest ambitions. We look forward to advancing the public policies needed to realize those ambitions.

Statement by Professional Services Council: Call to pass the Modernising Government Technology Act of 2016

The Professional Services Council welcomes President-elect Donald Trump and his incoming administration. PSC has been preparing for the presidential transition and the new Congress for months, and we offer the following recommendations to the new team.

# First

Expand public faith in governing by delivering results through partnership and collaboration between government and its supporting contractors. This vital partnership must build on a fair process that promotes real competition and rewards good performance.

# Second

Bring competent people into government. We need experienced, competent leaders who can produce results. America’s problems need all the talent we can get to work on them.

# Third

Preserve the continuity of successful programs. The best way to restore and rebuild trust in government is to perform better, deliver results, and reduce costs. Too often, new teams make their mark by stopping ongoing work to start something new. The Trump team needs to continue successful programs across all federal agencies.

# Fourth

Act quickly to restore comity and a working relationship with Congress. There is ample room to develop common ground, and there is crucial work to be completed. Congress should enact an omnibus appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2017 and pass the National Defense Authorisation Act and other key bills like the Modernising Government Technology Act of 2016.

President-elect Trump and his team should make it clear that Congress should finish their work for this year before adjourning. They will have enough other challenges to deal with.

PSC is ready to work with the new president, administration, and Congress, and our industry looks forward to continuing the successful partnership with our government in our joint desire to serve our country and its citizens.
