RIPE NCC meets Iraqi network operators in Amman during training event

RIPE NCC recently organised a technical training event for its Iraqi and Jordanian members in Amman. Alongside the training, RIPE NCC members in Iraq and Jordan were also invited to a lunch meeting to discuss how they can benefit from tools and support provided by RIPE NCC.

Inviting Iraqi members to Amman is part of RIPE NCC’s strategy to reach its inaccessible members in conflict areas and strengthen engagement with its members across the Middle East, following the establishment of its regional office in Dubai in 2014. The training was hosted by Talal Abou Ghazalah University and supported by the International Network Department of the Ministry Of Communications in Iraq.

As a neutral, not-for-profit membership association, RIPE NCC provides a range of tools and services to support the operations of its 15,000 members who are enterprise networks, ISPs, telecom operators and other organisations. With 25 years of experience, RIPE NCC speaks the Internet community’s language and knows what kind of support network operators find valuable.

Paul Rendek, Director of External Relations at the RIPE NCC, said it was committed to supporting network operators in the Middle East, especially those delivering services in remote or conflict areas. “We are enthusiastic about empowering the Iraqi community through training in a range of topics, including IPv6. We also provide a number of unique tools like RIPE Atlas and RIPEstat that have been developed in partnership with the Internet community”.
