Taking privileged account management into the hybrid cloud

2017: YEAR IN REVIEW

From a regional perspective, BeyondTrust concentrated on cementing relationships with strategic partners in 2017. BeyondTrust’s focus has gone into improving their ability to sell and deliver services for BeyondTrust. BeyondTrust has also developed close relationships with the global SI’s and delivered a number of high profile projects with them.

“Privileged account management is a complex technology, partners need to fully commit to enabling themselves in order to deliver successful projects. 2017 has seen this part of the channel business grow significantly. Political instability is still a key factor in this market. It is extremely difficult to mature channel relationships in these countries due to changing market conditions, a lack of skills and lack of funds to develop those skills adequately,” says John Hathaway is Regional Sales Manager Middle East at BeyondTrust.

In terms of new products, BeyondTrust made significant announcements in 2017. In May it announced support for Microsoft Azure. With this announcement, BeyondTrust enables organisations to maintain their privileged access management and vulnerability management solutions in the cloud via Azure and manage them in a hybrid environment, without security gaps. In addition, BeyondTrust solutions perform security scans of Azure cloud instances to prevent unwanted intrusions as a result of unpatched or known vulnerabilities. The technology manages the customer’s Azure environment with a management console, connectors, agents, assessment capabilities, and privileged access management in a single instance verses multiple point solutions and software deployments.

In June 2017, BeyondTrust announced its New PowerBroker Servers Management Console. The newest version of the PowerBroker Servers Management Console is a centralised, web-based solution that simplifies the deployment and management of PowerBroker for Unix and Linux, PowerBroker for Sudo and PowerBroker Identity Services. The console revolutionises the management of Unix and Linux platforms, and delivers on BeyondTrust’s promise of simplifying Unix and Linux security and compliance. Taking into consideration that privilege abuse is responsible for over 80% of known breaches, BeyondTrust customers can now realise the benefits of least privilege faster and with less complexity.

In August 2017, BeyondTrust announced the first privileged access management platform available on Google Cloud, powered by BeyondInsight. This is the first privileged access management platform platform available on Google Cloud. As the only complete PAM platform available on Google Cloud, BeyondTrust, which is already available on Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Marketplace, can now provide additional cloud-based deployment options and maximum flexibility for customers.

While the announcement ushers in a new offering for BeyondTrust and its platform, currently also available as software, virtual and physical appliances, it significantly magnifies BeyondTrust’s cloud availability, providing the necessary resources to manage cloud instances, cloud services, and cloud applications. It also enhances BeyondTrust’s offering for Managed Services Providers in search of new security services for their customers. Customers and partners alike can benefit from BeyondTrust’s industry-unique cloud connectors for managing other cloud instances and passwords, and not only for Google.
