Pure Storage, an IT pioneer that delivers Storage-as-a-Service in a multi-cloud world, has announced that Metito, a leading global provider of intelligent water management and alternative energy solutions, has deployed Pure’s technology to improve the performance of its business-critical applications, provide cost predictability and simplify storage management through a unified dashboard. The implementation of Pure’s technology at the company’s primary data centre has resulted in significant improvements in employee productivity and user experience across the organisation.

A leading global provider of intelligent water management and alternative energy solutions, Metito serves around 1,500 users and has over 3,000 projects and experience in over 46 countries. The company is continuously assessing and developing its IT infrastructure, particularly storage, to continue leading the industry at a time where processes and facilities are more rapidly digitising. Metito’s previous IT infrastructure solution, a mix of legacy spinning disk drives, had become a limiting factor for performance and the larger technology stack. Commenting on the critical role of storage, Prashant Menon, Metito IT Infrastructure and Support Services Manager, said: “Any network or server outage can be resolved with no lasting impact but storage is critical in the data centre. When it fails, you are likely left with a lasting impact.”

A six-month procurement process, focused on finding a solution that would deliver performance, predictability and manageability, culminated in Metito selecting Pure Storage as a key technology within its data centre infrastructure. Since switching to Pure, Menon and his team have seen dramatic improvements to IT and end user performance. They have also reduced backup times of critical data from two to three days with the previous solution, down to just 10 to 12 hours with Pure.

“With the integration of the new storage solution from Pure Storage, a lot of the session timeouts disappeared, allowing a more efficient use of time – users no longer have to restart sessions and/or re-input lost data. We have also achieved a 30% improvement in application performance throughput which has resulted in increased productivity and a marked improvement in the overall user-experience,” Menon noted.

Additionally, with Pure1 – Pure’s cloud-based storage management solution – the Metito IT team can now easily view all key performance metrics from a single dashboard. This has enabled them to move to a more proactive management mode, ensuring there is no downtime due to capacity constraints or drop in availability of business-critical applications. The time saved on management is also allowing the team to focus on more innovative projects that can add tangible business value.

“All the other vendors we considered offered legacy-storage technologies with flash add-on and did not have the required software component to manage it. With Pure1, we have access to a more advanced solution, the latest technology and we can view all performance metrics from a single dashboard. All at a predictable cost of ownership” added Menon.

“As organisations in the region continue to digitally transform, something that has been accelerated in the current climate, it is essential that they shed rigid legacy infrastructures that are a drain on IT resources and budgets and impact employee performance and efficiency,” commented Assaad El Saadi, Regional Director, Middle East, Pure Storage. “At Pure, we are delivering a modern data experience that enables our customers, like Metito, to transform its IT departments, and wider organisations, into true centres of innovation that can serve as catalysts for business growth.”
