Fotech appoints new CTO to scale up business

Fotech, a bp Launchpad company and global provider of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology, has appointed Steve Cammish as chief technology officer.

With more than 25 years’ experience in leading teams to develop new technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and data management across a range of industries, Cammish joins Fotech at an exciting and challenging point in its growth. He has worked on dynamic solutions for sectors including military and aerospace, smart cities, industrial automation, energy, transportation and healthcare.

“In the last five years, I’ve led teams to build IoT and Edge AI solutions in collaboration with some of the largest organisations in the world,” said Cammish. “With the Fotech technology stack and the use cases it can address, I know we can make a real difference in the market. The main challenge will be to ensure we have the right technology suite, the right user experience, the right team and the right partner relationships to achieve our scale goals and make a real difference to the growth journey,” he added.

Founded in 2008, Fotech is a key player in the global distributed fibre optics sensing technology market. Its innovative DAS technology has multiple applications for smart cities, infrastructure, pipeline and security.

Cammish has a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Computing for Business and IT from Northumbria University. He has worked with development teams around the world and lives in County Durham, England.
