Exabeam announces new appointments to help drive growth

Manish Sarin, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Exabeam

Exabeam, the next-gen SIEM company, has announced the appointments of Manish Sarin to chief financial officer (CFO), and Rajiv Taneja, to Executive Vice President of Engineering.

Sarin will report to CEO Nir Polak and assume responsibility for Exabeam’s finance organisation, in addition to overseeing legal and human resources. Taneja will also report to Polak while leading the software engineering team and providing strategic direction on product innovation.

Exabeam’s growth has allowed the company to claim a significant piece of the security information and event management (SIEM) market, with 250% market growth in 2017 and 300% growth in 2016. The company is on track to more than double its market size before the end of 2018, using a recent US$50 million funding round to grow its cloud portfolio and expand its global presence.

Sarin brings more than 20 years’ experience to his role. Prior to joining Exabeam, he was an executive vice president of corporate planning and development at Proofpoint since 2012, responsible for financial strategy, acquisitions and investor relations activities. Sarin also led strategy and corporate development efforts for the software and security groups at HP and was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan.

“SIEM is one of the fastest growing segments in security and is ripe for disruption,” said Sarin. “I look forward to working closely with Nir and the executive team to craft a development plan that seizes on key market opportunities for the company to continue its impressive growth.”

Exabeam’s Security Management Platform (SMP) provides superior threat identification and response capabilities with a more affordable, predictable pricing model than legacy SIEMs. The company’s goal is to systematically disrupt the SIEM space to become the next market leader and Taneja’s engineering expertise will push those efforts forward, particularly in the areas of cloud and AI, where the company is focusing its product innovation.

“Rajiv’s extensive engineering experience will help sustain our trajectory as a transformative leader in the SIEM market,” commented Polak. “He thoroughly understands technology development, as well as innovative methods we want to use, to help customers protect their businesses from evolving security threats. His approach and discipline will ensure our development efforts align with our overall company direction.”

Taneja’s engineering career spans more than 20 years. He joins Exabeam from Cisco where he was vice president of engineering in the networking and security group. At Cisco, Rajiv managed a US$150 million annual budget and led a team of more than 650 people in the United States, Australia, India and China. Prior to Cisco, he held executive engineering roles at IGT, Silver Spring Networks and Motorola. His domain expertise includes IoT, security and cloud enablement.

“I am exhilarated to be leading a team that is poised to overtake the SIEM market leader,” said Taneja. “As cyberthreats continue to evolve, it is more critical than ever to leverage innovations like AI and Machine Learning, to help our clients predict security incidents and enforce response postures. I am eager to work with Exabeam’s brilliant engineers, as well as its partners, to ensure our solutions provide the best possible outcomes for businesses.”
