Brazil’s Treevia and Wyld Networks partner to deploy sustainable forest management solutions

Wyld Networks has announced a partnership with São Paulo-based Treevia to deploy its IoT sensor-to-satellite technology with Treevia SmartForest solution, a digital platform for automated management of forest operations.

The combined technologies will create an end-to-end solution to monitor and manage forest assets anywhere in the world.

Treevia’s technology automates the collection, processing, and visualization of data from forest assets to increase forest productivity and improve sustainability. By automating data collection using high-precision IoT sensors, Treevia monitor key variables in forest environments.

Climate change poses significant challenges for both society and the global economy. While there is an on-going effort to curb carbon emissions, activities such as poor forest management, deforestation and illegal logging are constant obstacles that get in the way of the world’s climate goals.

With the world losing a third of its forest, there is a critical need to develop sustainable forest management solutions.

With Wyld’s satellite IoT solutions, Treevia will be able to collect data affordably and efficiently from IoT sensors in remote locations at low power – even where there is no cellular option.

“Wyld’s satellite IoT solution will deliver efficiency and scalability as we look to extend our technology to the mass monitoring of tree assets across the globe,” said Maycow Berbert, CTO of Treevia.

“At present, Treevia monitors over 100,000 hectares of forests and we plan to monitor one billion hectares of forests by 2030, which corresponds to one-quarter of the world’s total forest area.”

“Collecting data is vital to improve commercial and sustainable management of global forestry assets,” said Alastair Williamson, CEO of Wyld Networks.

“We are delighted to be working with Treevia to solve these data capture challenges with Wyld’s sensor to satellite technology and look forward to deploying our technology globally to support such an important sustainability initiative.”
