AI has triggered a revolution in the Latin American labor market, driving the creation of new roles, in addition to improving existing activities.

According to the World Economic Forum, AI is estimated to be responsible for generating 97 million jobs by 2025, evidencing a net growth in professional opportunities. Among the sectors that are expected to generate the most new jobs driven by this technology are retail, banking, IT and marketing.

In the retail area, for example, positions such as ‘data analyst’ and ‘user experience specialist’ stand out, since the ability to analyze data processing will be essential to improve customer interaction on online platforms.

In the banking sector, the ‘cybersecurity specialists’, who act against irregularities in systems, mitigating risks to the business, as well as the ‘automation consultant’, who seeks automation mechanisms so that banking processes are more efficient with the use of AI, are examples of functions that should generate demand for professionals.

In the other sectors of the market, the positions benefited include ‘systems developer’, responsible for the design, development and maintenance of AI systems; ‘ethicist specialist’, which focuses on developing policies and regulations to ensure the responsible and ethical use of AI tools; and ‘digital marketing specialist’, a role that uses technology to optimize online marketing and advertising campaigns.

In addition to the already existing professions, which will undergo transformations with the implementation of AI, new occupations are emerging, such as ‘immediate engineer’ and ‘prompt engineer’. These positions occupy a significant space with the use of AI, especially in the healthcare, finance and technology sectors, which are looking for professionals to optimize communication between humans and machines.

And the demand for people with these specialties is growing gradually in Latin America, with annual salaries that reach US$73,000 dollars, around R$365,000 reais per year, according to a study carried out by Deel, a platform for hiring and paying global talent.

All these indicators show that the presence of AI in the labor market presents a dynamic future with many opportunities, while exposing significant challenges, considering the adaptation to technological changes, the continuous development of skills and the attention to ethics.

These attributes are fundamental in this field, still under exploration, of AI, as the way forward is to ensure that the integration of the tool into society is beneficial and equitable. By embracing these transformations and addressing the challenges that arise, professionals will be increasingly prepared to thrive in this ever-evolving market.
