Inmetrics Latam plans to grow its operations in Chile and Colombia, where its IT services are used by banks that serve more than 23 million customers, insurance companies and telecom businesses. With its own generative AI and a tailored planning offering, the company aims to expand its clientele.

The growth challenge in both countries is part of the market diversification strategy of its parent company, Inmetrics, a leader in Digital Efficiency in Latin America. Today, the subsidiary represents 20% of the group’s profits and 25% of its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization). In the next 24 months, the goal is to reach 25% of the revenue and a range of 30% to 35% of the EBITDA.

The star of this expansion is LIEV, a generative AI created to optimize IT processes. While ChatGPT and others receive instructions to create text and image, LIEV learns by memorizing the operation history of companies and creates commands that automate procedures and convert up to five steps into one.

With process optimization, there was a 30% reduction in time spent on manual testing and up to a 35% reduction in the duration of automatic testing in quality engineering. The tool is in the digital acceleration projects of three financial sector companies, two in Chile and one in Colombia, being one of the first Chilean market firms to use its own generative AI.

The use of LIEV was suggested to clients after a thorough evaluation of IT areas, a specialty of Inmetrics Latam. Each Digital Transformation begins with a diagnosis of the infrastructure, processes and team, with the aim of creating a schedule, metrics and training necessary to elevate the efficiency of each company’s systems.

The result of this mapping is the creation of a unique digital acceleration plan for each client. The strategies are developed by a highly qualified team that benefits from partnerships with the creators of the main market solutions, such as Microsoft, Google, Oracle and AWS (Advanced Partner).

In 2024, Inmetrics Latam celebrates 15 years in Chile, where its headquarters are located and from where 85% of its revenue comes. Although continuing to grow in the country remains in its plans, the company has resumed its expansion plan to Colombia, initiated in 2019 and paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent months, the company has been actively seeking professionals for its Bogotá office, benefiting from one of the advantages of the Colombian market. Beyond the high potential of its human talent, a large consumer market and an environment of abundant opportunities have weighed in this restart four years later.

The excellent results in the application of IT solutions in Brazil are the guide for Inmetrics’ expansion in other Latin American countries. With over 20 years of experience in the Brazilian market, the company has adapted solutions for its clients in Chile and Colombia, considering the local contexts of security and data protection legislation.

The company has also recently been nominated for AWS Partner Awards. One of these was for Social Impact of the Year, with the Tech Ladies project, which seeks greater participation of women in the IT sector.

The selected candidates received training that covered aspects of infrastructure, microservices development, AWS cloud, agility and observability. Thanks to the partnership between Inmetrics and AWS, the participants were able to specialize in the AWS environment and had the opportunity to take the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification exam. Inmetrics ensured that these professionals received the necessary technical training to work in cloud environments, providing end-users with an optimized experience.

Intelligent Tech Channels Latin America spoke to Paulo Souto, CEO of Inmetrics Latam, to find out more about how the company operates.

Inmetrics has been recognized as a leader in Digital Efficiency in Latin America. Could you elaborate on the strategies and initiatives that have driven this success in the region?

We are a leading company in Digital Efficiency and today we are preparing to officially launch Liev, our generative AI solution, to the market. This new creation is the star of our business model for 2024, aiming to grow between 15% and 20%.

Our strategy is to continue with the evolution of our portfolio, adding Artificial Intelligence to all layers of the services offered, always keeping in mind the needs of the market and our customers. We offer end-to-end technology solutions, with support at each stage of the digital journey.

Our main bet regarding Liev is to guarantee security, quality, efficiency and assertiveness, beyond the middleware function. This includes incorporating a layer of flexibility and access control to different LLM models, ensuring the best choice according to the request, considering the quality of the result and the cost.

The Tech Ladies project seeks to increase women’s participation in the IT sector. How does Inmetrics plan to expand and develop this initiative in the future?

Tech Ladies was created in March 2022 and its purpose is to support women who are starting in a technological career or transitioning to it to develop as professionals.

If we look at women’s participation in technological events, we have great examples, such as Ada Lovelace, who programmed well before computers existed as we understand them today, and the famous actress Hedy Lamarr, a 1940’s film star, who was one of the creators of a communication system for the United States Armed Forces.

Tech Ladies has a duration of six months and its main motto is the fight against gender inequality not only in the tech market but in the entire labor market. That is why we consider practical actions,

such as access to knowledge, training and specializations, the right path towards a world of diversity and inclusion, providing new perspectives and skills to its participants.

In relation to the training provided to candidates in the Tech Ladies project, what are the key skills and areas of knowledge they focus on, and how do these align with Inmetrics’ vision for the future of IT?

The program focuses on software development, quality engineering and cloud. Tech Ladies is a living entity. We are adjusting and improving it based on trials and thus progressing. The important thing is that our professionals can feel prepared, valued, and ready to face the challenges in the constantly evolving technological market. With the development of Liev, our generative AI platform, a powerful new opportunity is created, since the tech ladies will have access to this sophisticated Artificial Intelligence solution from the first day of the program, ensuring that the professionals co-exist with LLM models and can extract the best from their use, beyond all the content mentioned above.

Liev, your generative AI platform, has shown significant results in automating task processes. Can you talk about how Liev is evolving and what new capabilities or improvements are on the horizon?

The main promise of Inmetrics with Liev is to use generative AI to accelerate IT team productivity by at least four times, providing security, data privacy, corporate governance of costs and accesses. Offered as a service, Liev was built from the combination of different open-source LLMs (large language models) available on the market. From the platform’s environment, it is possible to interact with any AI model available on the market, whether locally in the company’s infrastructure or in the cloud. The technology already has ‘out-of-the-box’ functions to create code in assistant mode for IDEs like VSCode and IntelliJ, in batch mode for DevOps sequences (with unit testing and retrodoc functions), and semantic search for documents. For companies, Liev is a fundamental middleware, bringing a layer of security, privacy, efficiency, access control and flexibility. The great innovation is the fact that, from a single hub, it is possible to choose the cheapest and most effective model for each request.

How has the partnership with AWS been fundamental in the development of efficient solutions by Inmetrics, and what are the key aspects of this collaboration that have contributed to your success?

We participated in the AWS Partner Awards, which highlighted partners whose business models reached good levels of specialization, innovation and co-operation. They also recognized those partners who continue to evolve and prosper. Being in this environment is, for us, a way to be recognized and valued by our strategic partner.

We were also nominated in the Innovation category with Liev. Designed to optimize technology and business operations in an unprecedented way, Liev enhances services such as Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock and already has cases whose results were significant, such as automating 75% of procedural tasks, which is an example of the gains in productivity and efficiency provided by AI in the technological production line of our clients. Our expectation is to grow through this alliance in strategic customers for Inmetrics and AWS, so that this results in an increase in our revenues in 2024.

As the technological landscape continues to evolve rapidly, what are the main challenges and opportunities that Inmetrics foresees in the coming years, especially in the context of Digital Transformation and cloud computing?

We live in a time of financial constraints for companies, and therefore, investment in technology has been more selective. Problems such as rising costs for cloud migration, low quality in code construction, inefficient QA structures not aligned with business needs are some examples of the difficulties faced by the market. We have a lot of experience in solving these pains. We have been serving banks among our clients in Brazil and other Latin American countries for over 20 years, so we are one of the best partners in the market to solve these challenges, regardless of the size of the business and the difficulties it presents.

Digital Transformation, which was accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, today demands good management, efficiency and sustainable scalability. And without a doubt, it will continue to demand large investments in technology, culture and corporate governance. Cloud, AI, software development and quality engineering, among others, are examples of where we will continue to put a good part of our efforts.

Helping our clients to continue with their strategies efficiently, intelligently and sustainably is our challenge and our reason for being.
