Azure Ultra Disk Storage and Azure Red Hat OpenShift are among the available solutions that customers can utilize locally.
Microsoft continually makes new services and solutions available in its cloud so customers can take advantage of these features in local data centers, and the company is gradually bringing these resources to the Azure regions available in Brazil.
It is possible to monitor the availability through the Azure updates portal, which contains the latest news brought to the country.
Among the solutions that have recently been made available, there is the Zone Redundant Storage for Azure Disks, which is a solution that provides synchronous replication of data in three availability zones in a region, allowing disks to tolerate failures without causing interruptions to applications.
In addition, it also maximizes the virtual machine availability without an application-level data replication between zones, being possible to use this solution with shared disks to provide greater availability for clustered or distributed applications such as SQL FCI, SAP ASCS/SCS or GFS2.
The Zone Redundant Storage for Azure Disks is now available in southern Brazil.
Another new feature is Azure Red Hat OpenShift, a managed service tool that offers OpenShift clusters in Microsoft Azure. The solution is available in the Brazil Southeast region and brings new features to support workload optimization, offering enhanced security and improving performance. Using it, it is now possible to create a private cluster without a public IP in UDR Mode, a mode that defines the network route to access the solution. This way, it is possible to achieve better network protection and security since the network is not easily accessible by people not related to the organization creating the cluster.
The Egress Lockdown feature has also been added, and provides access to crucial Azure resources via the ARO Private Link private service. It allows management URLs to be accessed on a private endpoint, thus eliminating the need to access the Azure Container Registry.
Azure Private endpoint support for Application Security Groups (ASGs) is another security-focused feature that has become available in the Brazil South region, increasing protection on subnets without neglecting the pre-established criteria for the network. The feature allows to add more control over existing Network Security Group rules by attaching an Application Security Group to the private endpoint’s network interface.
A preview of Azure Chaos Studio also became available as a service for improving the resilience of applications and infrastructures by simulating and testing failures in a controlled environment at Azure Brazil South. The tool allows the IT area to carry out fully managed chaos engineering experiments, speeding up the discovery of possible system or application failures and preparing it for the most diverse adversities, whether caused by cyberattacks or unavailability.
