Ascenty, a leading data center service provider in Latin America, has achieved Gold classification in the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program.
This program is the primary method for creating tools that calculate Greenhouse Gas emissions. The certification is for the 2023 cycle and pertains to emissions in 2022.
The evaluation for certification declaration involves categorizing the company’s direct emissions (scope 1), indirect emissions from the company’s inputs (scope 2) and indirect emissions outside the company’s control (scope 3).
An Inmetro-accredited body verifies the GHG emissions inventory. Organizations that conduct comprehensive calculations and detailing of their emissions and have their data verified by an independent third party are eligible for the Gold Seal. This prestigious award reflects a steadfast dedication to reducing their carbon footprint and promoting environmental sustainability.
“This recent accomplishment further strengthens the company’s ESG agenda, which has been intensified year after year. Obtaining the Gold Seal reflects Ascenty’s firm and on-going commitment to sustainability, which is a serious and transparent endeavor focused on mitigating environmental impacts,” said Fábio Trimarco, Compliance and Quality Director at Ascenty.
Ascenty developed the Carbon Neutral Program to neutralize CO2 emissions using renewable energy and I-RECS. In addition to its efforts to eliminate GHG emissions, the company became Brazil’s first ISO 14001 certified data center in 2016.
